first dance

This is Ruth and Esubalew enjoying their first dance, being watched by their bridal party. Soon after this, the bridal party joined them, as did two seemingly professional dancers, hired in for the occasion. Ethiopian dancing looks very strange. It’s all in the shoulders. You’re meant to wiggle them up and down. Some people were doing it incredibly quickly.

Our first dance wasn’t really a dance. We just moved around the dance floor, mostly in time to the music. Does that constitute a dance?
